I hoped it would be instant so I could make a video and share my experience, but it wasn’t. They told me it would be activated after 6 PM, but I doubted it since Jio’s SIM cards activate instantly after providing details.

I asked Chhatri Wale Bhaiya and others, and they said it takes time. I tried inserting the SIM into my phone, hoping for a network, but nothing happened. I waited until 6 PM, but still no network. The next morning, I received a message on my alternate number for tele-verification with an OTP. I was happy as the network had appeared. I called for tele-verification, but it connected to customer care instead. They asked for my Aadhar card details, and soon the SIM was activated.

However, I couldn’t place calls or use data. I worried I might need to go back. I waited, hoping I wouldn’t need to return, but ended up going back to the office. They took my number and recharged it. It seems FRC happens first and recharges later. The activation process takes time, unlike other telecom companies that do it instantly. BSNL needs to speed this up.

Internet Speed

I also checked the internet speed with BSNL after it was recharged. Despite a big tower nearby, 5G wasn’t available, and even 4G wasn’t strong. The speed was similar to 3G. I tested on YouTube, and videos played, but with some delay. Shorts played fine too. You can use the internet but don’t expect 4G or 5G speeds.

Calling Test

I also tested call quality by calling Airtel from my BSNL SIM. The voice quality was similar, with no significant difference, though Jio had a slightly sharper sound. Calling from BSNL to Airtel, the voice was louder and clearer. The difference is minor but noticeable. This call testing gives you an idea of cross-network call quality.

Indoor Network testing

Finally, I checked the network coverage in my room, which is crucial. this experience is familiar. However, new kids might not know this as today’s telecom companies offer different services with occasional price hikes. The data is 5G and unlimited, which might come over time. Comparing prices with other brands, BSNL’s network is reasonably priced. If you have coverage in your area, you can use or switch to BSNL. However, if network issues persist, you’ll need to check.
