WhatsApp is rolling out general group chats for Communities: How does it work?
WhatsApp Update:
Meta-owned popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly launching a general group chat for communities. Community is a feature that allows users to bring different groups together under one umbrella called a community.
As WABetaInfo reports, “Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.6 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on improving communication between community members by introducing a general group chat feature.” “Looking for new ways.”
Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo revealed a new group for communities that allows community members to talk with each other. When someone joins a community, they can automatically be added to the general group chat, as is already the case with community announcement groups.
To find out if this feature is already available for your WhatsApp account, you will need to create a new community. Users can find general group chats immediately after community creation. The report suggests that the feature is only enabled for new communities, and there are no plans to bring the same automated grouping to older communities.
According to the report, the maximum capacity of this group is still 1024. Furthermore, it seems that this group is not protected by the phone number privacy option and its participants list is not hidden.
“Thanks to general chat, new community members can talk to other people and learn how the community and its groups work. It is important to note that if you create a new community and you do not like the general group chat, it is possible to remove it from the community by opening the community information screen,” WABetaInfo said.
The general group chat for communities is available to some beta testers who installed the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store and will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
